What the Starbucks Logo Colors Mean?

The Starbucks logo colors turned green in 1987. The 1971 mark was brown and showed a bare-chested twin-tailed siren copied from an old Norse woodcut, a nod to coffee's sea-trade past. When Howard Schultz's group bought the company it swapped brown for a kelly green, later a slightly deeper green, and over successive redraws cropped the siren closer and dropped the outer ring and the words.

Starbucks Logo Color History

Starbucks logo color history has one real hinge, the 1987 brown-to-green switch, then a run of simplifications: closer crops in 1992 and 2011, and the removal of all text in 2011.

Starbucks Logo Fonts

Starbucks logo fonts are Sodo Sans and a house display face, both kept in-house. A humanist sans stands in for text.
